what’s proposed

The 47 community members of the Facility Study Committee contributed over 500 hours studying needs and potential solutions. The committee recommended the following bond projects that can be funded without a tax rate increase.

The Board unanimously approved a bond election to immediately address:

INFRASTRUCTURE

Facility and Infrastructure projects play a role in maintaining the long-term functionality, and reliability of school facilities.

BOND PROJECTS WILL ADDRESS:

  • Maintenance of aging facilities & critical infrastructure

    • HVAC, Plumbing, Roofing, etc.

    • Security

    • Data protection

    • Operations equipment

  • Operational / utility efficiency

  • Catch up to current enrollment for High School activity spaces

STUDENT
EXPERIENCE

The student experience is shaped by a range of factors within the learning environment that affect comfort, safety, creativity, and engagement.

BOND PROJECTS WILL ADDRESS:

  • Learning environment standards / functional equity

    • Safety

    • Classroom equipment & furniture

    • Air conditioning

  • PK-12 classroom equipment life cycle replacements in Technology and Fine Arts

  • Safety, lighting, & technology updates to extracurricular spaces

  • New buses

Bond Projects will be presented to voters as
3 separate ballot propositions

Prop A - construction, improvement, expansion, renovation and equipment of school facilities and safety and security enhancements, the purchase of necessary sites for school facilities and purchase of buses
Prop B - constructing, improving, modernizing and equipping extra/co-curricular facilities including installation of led lighting, security and technology*
Prop C - acquiring and updating instructional technology equipment*

*Why are these items grouped in three propositions?
The State of Texas requires certain items to be listed as separate propositions. This is not a district committee or school board distinction. Grouping of propositions does not dictate bond sales. Midway ISD regularly sells bonds for shorter terms when funding items with a shorter lifespan.

Proposition a

Capital Improvements - ADA, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, interior & exterior updates, electrical, flooring, furniture

Technology - Data center infrastructure, disaster recovery site, campus networking, security infrastructure

Operations - Grounds & maintenance equipment, buses

Program Growth - MHS PE gym & locker rooms

Fine Arts - Technology, security, instruments, classroom equipment, uniforms, stage/AV/seating improvements in all performance spaces (PK-12)

Every campus is included in the bond package.
