District Growth

Midway ISD Ranks among State’s Fastest-Growing School Districts

In the past five years, the student enrollment in Midway ISD has grown by nearly 850 students and is projected to climb an additional 2,300 students in the next 10 years. To accommodate this growth, the district’s 2019 bond program is proposing to add an elementary school and make additions and improvements at four existing campuses.

Based on student enrollment growth, Midway ISD is ranked in the top quartile of all Texas school districts and has received the designation of “fast-growth district” from the Texas Education Agency.

2019 Bond Proposal to Address Growth

The addition of one new elementary campus, paired with the proposed grade configuration, is both cost efficient and accommodates the projected student population growth at the elementary and middle school grades for the next 10 years.

The district will address the growth by adding two elementary schools (one newly-constructed school and converting Woodgate Intermediate into an elementary), adding a middle school (converting River Valley to 6th-8th grade middle school), renovating Midway Middle School, and constructing an addition at Midway High School.
